Subtracting Pounds and Ounces
Subtract Pounds and Ounces: Learn
How to subtract pounds and ounces:

If the subtracted number of ounces is greater than the original number of ounces,
you can "borrow" 16 ounces from the original number of pounds:
Reduce the original number of pounds by 1
Increase the original number of ounces by 16
 Subtract the ounces.
 Subtract the pounds.
Example: Subtract 3 pounds 10 ounces from 6 pounds 8 ounces:

Since 10 is greater than 8, we must "borrow" some ounces:
 6 1 = 5 pounds
 8 + 16 = 24 ounces
 24 10 = 14 ounces
 5 3 = 2 pounds
Final answer: 2 pounds 10 ounces
