Statistical Range: Learn
The statistical range is the difference between the lowest and highest valued numbers in a set of numbers.
It is a common measure of central tendency, along with median and mean.
To find the range of a group of numbers:
- Arrange the numbers in order by size.
- Subtract the smallest number from the largest number.
Example: Find the range of the numbers 3, 6, 2, 6, 9, 4
- The numbers in order are 2, 3, 4, 6, 6, 9
- The highest number is 9
- The lowest number is 2
- The range is 9-2 = 7
