## Volume of a Cylinder

### Volume: Learn

Volume is the three-dimensional space within a solid shape.
The units of volume are the cubes of the units of length
(that is, if a shape's sides are measured in meters,
then the shape's area is measured in *cubic meters*).

We can calculate the volume of a cylinder using the basic formula for prisms and cylinders of Base_Area * Height.

Since a cylinder has circles for bases, the full formula
for volume of a cylinder is V_{c}=Πr^{2}h

For example, the volume of a cylinder with
radius 5m and height 2m is

V=Π*5^{2}*2

= 3.14*50

= 157m^{3}.

Remember to convert any diameter measures into radius measures.
